IPSC Canada National Training Program Black Badge Course – Camrose Shooting Sports Association
The IPSC Canada National Training Program’s Black Badge course is required for individuals wishing to participate in competitive shooting events sanctioned by the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC). Upon successful completion of the Black Badge course students will possess the necessary prerequisites to safely compete in sanctioned IPSC matches. While the Black Badge course is required for anyone wanting to participate in IPSC matches, the class is ideal for anyone wishing to improve their handgun skills, whether or not they intend to participate in IPSC.

Topics included in the IPSC Canada Black Badge Course include:

 Handgun safety and safe handling practices

 Fundamentals of effective handgun marksmanship (stance, grip, sight alignment, sight picture, trigger control)

 Safe and efficient deployment of a handgun from a holster

 Speed shooting and speed reloading techniques

 Sighted vs. unsighted shooting

 Alternate shooting positions (barricades, ports, obstacles etc.)

 Engaging multiple targets with multiple rounds at speed

 Dominant and support hand shooting techniques

 Safe and efficient movement with a loaded handgun (up / down range, laterally / diagonally across range)

 Stoppage and malfunction clearance drills

 IPSC style “Mini Match” to reinforce skills taught in class

Requirements:

 Semi-Automatic Handgun or Revolver (minimum caliber: 9 mm)

 Gun Belt, Belt-Height Holster, Magazine Pouches, minimum of 4 magazines (Holster must completely cover

handgun’s trigger guard. Thigh rig / drop-down holsters are not permitted. Belt must support equipment*)

 Hearing and Eye Protection (Mandatory)

 Baseball Cap with Brim (Strongly recommended)

 450 Rounds of Pistol Ammunition

 Clothing suitable for conditions (Jackets, fleeces etc. should be “tuckable” and must not cover / interfere with

holstered handgun and magazines)

Prerequisites:

 Restricted PAL (unless arrangements have been made to have gun transported by a Restricted PAL holder)

 Equipment as outlined above under “Requirements”

Course Schedule / Location:

 Saturday and Sunday, September 21st and 22nd, 2019

 Camrose Shooting Sports Association Outdoor Range – Camrose, AB

 2 Days (16 hours of instruction. Attendance both days is required)

Course Fee:

 $345.00 / Student

  • Gun belts must be suitable to securely support holstered handgun and loaded magazines. Use of standard dress belts is STRONGLY discouraged. Holster must be worn at belt height on the firing / strong side. Shoulder, thigh rig, tactical drop-down, cross-draw and SERPA or similar “push button” style retention holsters are not permitted for use in this class or in sanctioned IPSC competitions in Canada.
